Harpers Ferry, WV, October 18 - November 20, 2021. 2021年10月18日至11月20日,哈珀斯渡口。(P) (V)
Harpers Ferry is close to where Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia join each other. It sits right by the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers and is surrounded by mountains. With leaves changing color there could be some beautiful scenery, especially from Maryland Heights which overlooks the town and the confluence from across the Potomac River. According to the fall foliage map at smokymountains.com colors in the area will be at or near peak around October 18 and that's when we took our first trip. It turned out that date was off by quite a bit, and we ended up going back every week over the next five weeks hoping to catch the peak. The hike from the town to the overlook is about 2.2 miles one way with 1154 feet of elevation gain, so it is a good exercise if nothing else.
