| Milky Way from Valley of the Gods (part of Bears Ears National Monument), a place I was not aware of before the trip. I started researching alternatives during the trip after learning Monument Valley closes to visitors at early evening and stumbled upon someone's blog about Valley of the Gods. It sounds promising - accessible 24/7, with a number of buttes and mesas features, and only 10 minutes north of Mexican Hat where we are staying. It turns out to be a real “hidden gem” and has no problem holding its own against its famous neighbor in terms of rock formations and colors. It has much fewer visitors which is a plus. Obviously, the most important factor to me is that I can stay after dark and photograph the Milky Way, really taking advantage of the dark skies of rural Utah. Valley of the Gods is only about an hour's drive north of Monument Valley, the signature rock formations of which are visible from here, including on the horizon to the right in this image. 在众神谷（属于熊耳国家保护区）拍摄的银河。这次旅行前我不知道这个地方，本来的打算是在纪念碑谷里拍银河，到了才知道纪念碑谷每天傍晚就关闭了。查有什么其它类似的地方时看到有人的文章提到这里，听上去挺有希望 – 晚上不关，可以充分利用犹他州偏远地区的超低光污染，而且离我们住的地方（墨西哥帽）只有10分钟。去了一看它的岩石造型颜色一点儿不输纪念碑谷，旅客还要少很多，简直太棒了。有趣的是众神谷离纪念碑谷只有一个小时的车程，在这里能够看到纪念碑谷的那组经典岩石造型，比如在这张图右侧的地平线上。前景是日落后不久单拍的。 |
