| The sun was visible the first several seconds of totality, then it was completely blocked by clouds and pretty much never became visibl again. This image was taken during that tiny window of visibility. If there were no cloud the corona would have filled the frame but it was mostly blocked in this image. On the other hand, there were a number of solar prominances (or filaments). I estimate the longest one extended more than 42,000km from the sun's sufrace, almost enough to cover four Earth end to end.
