Wild animal. Per the response of museum employee Jan to my inquiry, this lizard is not native to Arizona, but desert museum staff in the 1970’s released 7 adults at the big horn sheep exhibit. (Nobody knew introduced species were a bad idea back then). Since then, they have had a population of spiny-tailed iguanas on grounds. This is a juvenile and the adults are lighter in color with dark bands. They are native to Mexico and further south.
