Ran into Bill shortly after I got to Huntley Meadows this morning. As we were walking toward the informal trail he told me the fox cubs at Occoquan are really active now, and before long they'll probably leave the den for good, and I should check them out. He's told me about the den before but I was not expecting the cubs to be out already. Got very excited about the opportunity, and it seemed slow at Huntley anyway, so I decided to head over to Occoquan. Bill decided to go as well. I followed him all the way to the den. When we got there two cubs were outside taking a nap. There were about eight photographers lining up the road taking shot. Activities picked up slowly, and at some point seven cubs can be seen at the same time. Thanks to Bill an otherwise slow morning became very exciting. The cubs retreated to inside the den around 11:00 am and I didn't see them again when I left around 12:00 pm.
