Egg Count
Unlike female wood ducks in nearby nesting boxes that took off before the egg counter got to them, this female hooded merganser stayed when the park folks knocked on the box, or even when the side of the box was opened. She only left her eggs when the person moved her head really close. The result of the egg counting? Twenty eggs in this box alone!
