It was a nice surprise when this juvenile Cooper's Hawk dived down in front of a group of photographers and landed less than 20 meters away. It then flew up a tree that was a little further away. I moved closer to have a better angle to get the twigs out of the line of sight. A few seconds later, it came down into the wetland and I was able to get some open shots. It was interesting to see this raptor run and walk around in the shallow like a shorebird. Only when I came back and was processing the photos I noticed a piece of its left wing was missing. Must be some old injury, and this hawk still flies without much problem.
