American Kestrel
This was taken during the photo shoot program offered by the Tuckahoe State Park, Maryland. It was part of MD Department of Natural Resources' Scale and Tale program, the goal of which is to bring awareness and education on wildlife/habitat protection to the public. All the birds on display are not eligible for releasing back to the wild due to various reasons. Sadly, most of the raptors were injured by cars when they dived to the roadside to catch rodents attracted to the road by litter we throw out of the car.
